Funding for EMS Recruitment and Retention

06/30/2021 10:49 AM | Anonymous

Thank you to everyone that participated in our Legislative "Take Action" regarding the Governor's Veto 11. The Advocacy Committee put forth a request for funding to sponsor a statewide EMS Recruitment initiative earlier this year. The funding made it through the initial budget but was threatened by Veto 11 Friday afternoon. We had over 220 grassroots advocates step up and message their respective representatives and senators and the veto was overridden with ease thus assuring our funding remains intact. This is a great show of unity for South Carolina EMS and we have received positive feedback from numerous elected officials.

With the funding secured, we will continue to move forward with the regionalized "Innovation in EMS Recruitment" workshops beginning in August and then roll out the statewide marketing campaign shortly thereafter.

This process began in 2018 when we published our initial EMS Workforce survey and has evolved into an opportunity to lead the nation in addressing EMS workforce shortages. Thank you to everyone who has participated in the committee work and leadership roles to bring this initiative to fruition.
