As we have mentioned before, our Committees are the driving force behind our progress. In October, there will be quarterly meetings for all Committees.
A second email will be sent out that includes the exact meeting dates, times, and links as all meetings will be virtual. Listed below are some highlights of each Committee's focus and initiatives.
Membership- Still developing new membership types, development of a one-page recruitment tool to help emphasize value of the SCEMSA, development of a resource corner.
Finance and Reimbursement- Medicaid expansion for both public and private EMS providers, Surprise billing legislation position statement, Phase 4 funding and ARPA funds.
Disaster Preparedness- Development of an EMS mobilization platform, revision of SCEMD ESF Annex 8 to include SCEMSA, training opportunities
Education- Survey of EMT training institutions to determine costs, capacity and access to assist with our statewide recruitment efforts, development of leadership/professional development material, development of new EMS Director Workshop, development of Educators Update precon, and cultivation of new instructors.
Workforce Development- The Board has voted to approve the Flock and Rally proposal for our statewide recruitment drive. Development of content and specific areas of focus for the campaign, development of a toolkit for agencies to use for recruitment that can be shared, and updated survey to analyze current workforce shortages.
Data, Administration and Compliance- Regulation 61-7 changes, SCEMSA bylaws and SCEMSA Administrative Policy Manual, and continuing the documentation of the history of EMS in our state.
Advocacy- Develop SC EMS as an essential service bill, assist Finance and reimbursement committee with Medicaid Expansion lobbying, create bill to allow EMS to opt into PORS retirement, planning for the January 2022 Legislative breakfast event, additional funding for SCEMSA and funding EMS education.
Health, Safety, and Wellness- Continued evaluation of the Peer-connect software proposal in conjunction with SC FAST, development of Wellness Bootcamps and monitoring legislation related to PTSD
EMS Memorial Bike Ride/ Honor Guard- Planning for 2022 ride, coordination of the workday at the SC EMS Memorial, planning the SCEMSA response to LODD and provision of support services, updating the SCEMSA display and pictures for our booth.

Finally, please join us in welcoming some new Co-Chairs to our Committees! Austin Mandeville has stepped up to help lead the Education Committee and David Abrams has agreed to serve as Co-Chair of the Finance and Reimbursement Committee.
