The foundation offers financial assistance to support aspiring EMS professionals and organizations in South Carolina.

The SC EMS Foundation Grant Portal is now open to accept applications for EMS tuition assistance. Please note, until further notice funds are restricted to EMT only. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Mandy Gattis.

Application Process — EMT Training

  1. Application Submission: Applicants must complete the foundation's financial assistance application form providing details about their current EMS position or their enrollment in an EMS education program.
  2. Submission Deadline: Applicants should be mindful of any deadlines for submitting their financial assistance applications.
  3. Review Process: The foundation will review all applications and determine the distribution of financial assistance based on available funds and the merit of each application.

Symposium Scholarships

SCEMSA Symposium

The SCEMSA Foundation awards a limited number of scholarships to help EMS professionals attend the SCEMSA Symposium. Scholarships are earned through an agency-led nomination process and are intended for individuals who will apply what they learn to strengthen their service and share takeaways with their agency.

Dates: March 25–27, 2026
Location: Kingston Resorts, Myrtle Beach, SC

What the scholarship provides
  • Full symposium registration (education sessions and scheduled events)
  • Lodging may be requested (as available) to reduce travel-related barriers
  • Recipients are expected to attend scheduled sessions
How it works
  • An agency leader submits the nomination form.
  • After the nomination is submitted, an email is sent to the nominee with a link to complete the individual form and submit their essay.
  • Both the agency nomination form and the individual essay form must be submitted by Jan 15, 2026.
  • Final decisions will be announced by Feb 15, 2026.

Policies

  • Eligibility: SCEMSA member agencies may nominate; only nominated individuals may apply.
  • Attendance: Award covers the full event; recipients are expected to attend scheduled sessions.
  • Cancellation: Attendees who are unable to participate must notify the Foundation a minimum of 10 days prior to the event. Notifications received after this deadline may result in the agency being held responsible for registration and lodging expenses already incurred.
  • Registration & lodging : The Foundation will coordinate all attendee registration and lodging arrangements (if applicable).

Ways to Support

  • Education Fund — fund a set number of scholarships or EMT tuition awards.
  • General Fund — flexible support where it’s most needed.

FAQ

Who can be nominated for scholarships?

Active personnel from SCEMSA member agencies. Agencies submit nominations first; nominated individuals then apply (via the nominee form sent to finalists).

What’s required in the personal statement?

One page: why you want to attend, how it supports your role, and how you’ll share value back with your agency/region.

Do scholarships include Lodging?

Lodging can be requested for the Symposium only.Lodging will be coordinated by the Foundation.
