Competition Changes
- Each team must include one paramedic paired with either one Advanced EMT or one EMT.
- The previous year's champions will no longer automatically advance. All teams must compete in the preliminary round.
- The top team from each of the four regions will advance to the championship.
- Championship winners will be recognized on the final day of Symposium rather than immediately following the competition.

Team Registration Fee: $100
Each team must consist of one paramedic and either one Advanced EMT or one EMT. Both clinicians must meet competition eligibility requirements and be affiliated with the same service.

Competition Guidelines
Preliminary Competition
- All registered teams will compete on Saturday, January 16, 2027, at Midlands Technical College.
- Competition begins at 10 a.m., with teams assigned individual competition times.
- Your team's assigned competition time will be emailed closer to the event.
- Teams will compete within their designated region.
The top-performing team from each of the four regions will advance to the championship, creating a four-team championship field.
Returning Champions
The previous year's winning team will no longer automatically advance to the championship. If the 2026 champions compete in 2027, they must participate in the preliminary round and qualify through their region like every other team.
Championship Competition
The four regional winners will compete in the championship on Wednesday, March 3, 2027, at 4:30 p.m. in the Windsor Ballroom during the SCEMSA Symposium.
- Finalist teams will be sequestered.
- Competition order will be randomly drawn.
- Communication during sequestration is prohibited.
- Winners will not be announced immediately following the championship.
- Judging will be based on applicable EMS curriculum, the South Carolina Medication Formulary and South Carolina-approved skills.
- Judges may act as medical control, and all judge decisions are final.
Awards Presentation
Competition winners will be recognized on Thursday, March 4, 2027, the final day of the Symposium, at 12:30 p.m., immediately following the Closing General Session.
Supply List
Teams must bring only permitted equipment. The competition supply list remains unchanged from the 2026 competition.
